New Formaldehyde Plants

Dynea's fasil® technology is scalable. In a single converter configuration, the nameplate capacity can range from 25 MTPD to 330 MTPD as formaldehyde 100%. This corresponds to 67 MTPD to 890 MTPD as formaldehyde 37%.

For a larger capacity in a single production unit, a twin converter configuration is used. In this configuration, the converters share a common vaporizer, absorber and thermal oxidizer. In this configuration capacity up to 660 MTPD as formaldehyde 100% is possible, which corresponds to 1780 MTPD as formaldehyde 37%.

With Dynea's fasil® process technology, the formaldehyde specifications are adjusted to best match your downstream requirements. The following range of product specifications is possible, without need for distillation:

• Formaldehyde: up to 56% (mass/mass)
• Methanol: 0.7% - 1.5% (mass/mass)
• Formic acid: subject to formaldehyde and methanol content
  • < 160 ppm at 55% formaldehyde
  • < 35 ppm at 37% formaldehyde
