Successful Start-up of BASF Zhanjiang Formaldehyde Plant

LILLESTRØM, Norway – (04/07-2025) – Dynea AS (Dynea) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the commissioning and commencement of commercial operations for its latest fasil® Silver Formaldehyde Plant license to BASF.
BASF Zhanjiang
BASF is currently building a new Verbund site in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province. Announced in July 2018 and officially commenced in November 2019, the project will be BASF’s largest investment to date with around €10 billion upon completion. It will be operated under the sole responsibility of BASF and will be the company’s third-largest Verbund site worldwide, following Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Antwerp, Belgium.
It has been a real pleasure to work with BASF in this project and we are very proud to have been selected as the licensor of the formaldehyde technology for the BASF BIG project in Zhanjiang.Herdis Sannes Petersson

The proven fasil® silver technology which is regarded as the most efficient and safest way of producing formaldehyde licensed by Dynea has already been successfully installed at more than 40 plants worldwide.
