Formaldehyde (FH) and UFC
Formaldehyde (FH), CH2O, is the simplest of the aldehydes. It is one of
the most important organic chemicals in use today in a large number of
activities and applications.
Formaldehyde is industrially produced, stored and supplied as an aqueous
solution, named formalin, concentrations ranging from 30-60%. It is made
from methanol by catalytic, vapour phase oxidation. Commercially two processes
are in use: the silver process and the metaloxide process. Dynea uses both
processes.
Thermosetting resins such as urea-formaldehyde resins (UF), melamine-urea-formaldehyde resins (MUF), and phenol-formaldehyde resins (PF) are the major markets. Formaldehyde is also used for the manufacturing of some industrial chemicals.
Thanks to sophisticated blending techniques formaldehyde can be delivered in every desired concentration. On customer demand, Dynea can deliver formaldehyde with stabiliser and at any desired temperature.
UFC
UFC is a urea-formaldehyde concentration at various percentage of solids
in a liquid state. UFC is used in the manufacture of UF resins, as well
as MUF resins. It is also used as a conditioner in the manufacture of
Urea.
