Dynea’s Washless adhesive application system gains acceptance
Dynea’s patented Washless adhesive application system has gained wide acceptance in the glulam industry.
As part of Dynea’s efforts to continuously develop adhesion solutions for its customers in the glulam industry, Dynea’s Engineered Wood Solutions product development team, led by Senior Researcher, Mr Ronny Bredesen looked for ways to improve the glue application systems in glulam production.
The Washless adhesive application system was developed to improve the standard separate application systems and to reduce the use of wash water. The Washless adhesive application system eliminates the daily cleaning and washing of the ribbon spreader heads by preventing the adhesive and the hardener from drying out in the nozzles. At the end of the working day, the ribbon spreader heads are lowered down into the adhesive and hardener liquids and the trays are covered with lids. The ribbon spreader heads are ready for use again after the lids had been removed, the spreader heads filled with the adhesive and the hardener and raised to their normal positions.
Dynea worked closely with machinery manufacturers Oest GmbH & Co Maschinenbau KG, DWT Dosier- und Wiegetechnik GmbH and Mixon AB to develop the Washless ribbon spreader. These machines have now been installed in more than 70 production lines and have been operating to the customers’ satisfaction. The experience is the same everywhere: no washing is required any more and that there is no tendency to dry out.
