The FormaCare Sector Group is a recognised Cefic sector group, set up by the European formaldehyde producers to act as the official representative of the European formaldehyde manufacturers industry.Issues that the FormaCare Sector Group follows include Occupational Exposure Level (OEL) reductions, EU New Chemicals Management Policy and the Biocide Directive.

FormaCare's Socio-Economic Impact Study
The European Formaldehyde Industry Association, FormaCare, has presented the first European study ever to be conducted on the socio-economic benefits of formaldehyde to the economy. The analysis aims to quantify the value formaldehyde brings society and the contribution of the formaldehyde industry to the economies of the European Union and Norway. It provides data on all formaldehyde derivatives including detailed evaluations of major applications.

International Formaldehyde Science Conference 2007
In order to gather and discuss all newly available scientific research and study results on formaldehyde from the various fields of research, FormaCare organised a Scientific Conference as a forum for scientific dialogue.

This forum, held September 21-22 in Barcelona, Spain, brought together scientific experts from Europe and the US as well as representatives of competent authorities in the EU, the US and Brasil, Institutions and committees on EU-level and international business. The Joint Research Centre of the European Commission chaired the first session on epidemiology.

The presenters were generally of the opinion that the common use of formaldehyde in consumer products and other applications does not pose a risk to human health.
