Dynea Curesafe for optimal laminated beam production

Dynea introduces Curesafe, a system that monitors temperature changes during laminated beam production to ensure optimal production conditions. By monitoring the temperature of the lamellas as well as the ambient temperature in the production area during curing, the production process can be optimised, resulting in shorter pressing times and longer assembly times.
By using the Dynea Curesafe system together with Dynea’s Prefere® adhesive resins, the adhesive system can be tailored to meet specific customer needs.

Dynea’s melamine-urea and melamine resins cure exponentially faster at higher temperatures. For example, the pressing time at 25ºC with Prefere 4535 is approximately 50% faster than the pressing time at 20ºC. The assembly time, too, depends on lamella temperatures. The maximum assembly time for Prefere 4535 at 25ºC is approximately 25% shorter than at 20ºC, provided all other parameters are constant.

Curesafe measures the temperatures in both the lamellas as well as in the production area, and if the temperatures are below the set optimal values, the system will trigger an alarm.

“By measuring the lamella temperatures you can achieve shorter pressing times and increased security in the production,” says Einar Mørland, Application Manager, Europe, for Dynea’s Engineered Wood Solutions.

Thanks to the Curesafe monitoring system and the flexible Prefere MUF and MF adhesives, the hardener dosage can be adjusted according to the temperature in the production area. With Prefere 4535/5046 the hardener dosage can be adjusted from 15 pbw to 60 pbw and with Prefere 4720/5020 from 10 pbw to 100 pbw, giving flexibility into the production process.

Easy and flexible system

By integrating Curesafe with the control system of the production process, for example on the gluing machine, additional control over the production process can be gained and the consistent quality of the beams ensured.

Curesafe is an easy and flexible system that can be easily incorporated into existing systems and tailored according to the customer’s needs. Dynea’s technical service works together with customers to design a system that will fulfil the needs in their production lines.

Jan Reidar Skretteberg, General Manager Sales and Marketing, Europe for Dynea’s Engineered Wood Solutions, concludes:  “One of our goals in Dynea is to improve our customers’ productivity. With the Curesafe monitoring system, we can do just that.”
